ADFH/GIRE : AEN and its partners had an exchange meeting
The Nakanbé Water Agency (AEN), the IRC and Waternet held a meeting on Thursday, June 06, 2019 in Ouagadougou, on the premises of the IRC, as part of the implementation of the AFDH_GIRE project Faso Koom II. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the process of developing the guidebook on the Human Rights Based Approach (HREA) / Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The elaboration of this guide document AFDH_GIRE is an action going into the implementation of the project of Support to institutional, organizational and technical capacities reinforcement of the local committees of Nakanbé / Faso Koom II, financed by the European Union. The implementation of the AFDH_GIRE component of this project is provided by the NEA and its partners, Waternet and IRC. This first meeting, which took place in Ouagadougou on June 6, 2019 between these three partners, allowed them to agree on the timing and methodology of work to be adopted for the elaboration of the Guide AFDH_GIRE. Thus, they agreed to leave (i) the strategic and operational context of the Nakanbé jurisdiction (ii) the results of the evaluation on the diagnosis of the functioning of the Local Water Committees (CLE) and ( iii) limit the scope of the Guide as needed.
This guide document AFDH_GIRE to elaborate, will allow to believe Arnaud ADJAGODO, in charge of the political influence to the IRC to reduce the vulnerability in the management of the water especially in a space where the water resources are rare and can be source of Conflicts. In addition, according to Ghislain Anselme KABORE, General Manager of the Nakanbé Water Agency, the IRC is an undisputed leader in the water sector and expects to benefit from this collaboration with its expertise and experience in making water more efficient the CLE of Nakanbé’s area of competence.
In perspective, a brainstorming workshop bringing together the NEA, IRC, Waternet, CLE and the structures at the central level is planned to be held from 25 to 26 June 2019 to present the objective and expected results of this activity on the AFDH, to explain the context of the functioning of the CLEs and to identify the problems and probable solutions. At the end of this workshop, a concept note will be developed in collaboration with the IRC to refine the methodology and work schedule.
